Renegade Riddims: AON

Let me take this opportunity to introduce you to The Art Of Noise more commonly known as AON.

This young Drum & Bass artist from Northampton, UK is a unique blend of old school heritage mixed with new school mindset. Being introduced to the scene during adolescence meant that over time, AON picked up tips and tricks from local legends and industry pros, ultimately giving him a back catalogue of knowledge way beyond his years. Trust me when I say this! I witnessed him supporting Roni Size and LTJ Bukem in February of this year and straight away I turned to my raving partner and said: “I’ve got to find this guy before the end of the night!” It took until The Roadmender was nearly empty and the lights came up for this to happen. We had a chat, I gave him my card and since then we have been in constant contact.

AON’s electric 4 deck sets have earned him various titles, residencies and the opportunity of being BBC Music Introducing’s 1st official Drum & Bass Specialist. A title to be very proud of for someone so young.

The Random Concept resident has come through the Drum & Bass ranks over the last decade, racking up appearances in some amazing places. The O2 Arena, The Institute, The Bournemouth Academy, Great Suffolk Street Warehouse, EGG LDN, The Black Swan – Bristol and The Roadmender. He has also been to the fields in the UK for Boomtown Fair, Illusive Festival, Beatherder, LeeFest, Summer Gathering and City Flow Festival. Outside of the UK, AON has performed in countries such as Germany, Spain, Belgium and Holland.

Next month, AON is set to add his first major EP release to his CV. The ‘Moonlight’ EP featuring, Spectre, Phadix and Megan Nurse is being released on August 14th via his own imprint, Random Concept Origins. I’ve already had the pleasure of hearing this EP and you guys are in for a treat! It slaps…hard!!!!

For this exclusive guest mix for our Renegade Riddims series, AON moves in traditional renegade fashion, going against the grain and drawing back to basics. Stepping away from the 4 deck scenario, he keeps it simple and lets the dark, grimey riddims flow…

I’m absolutely over the moon to be sharing AON’s mix with you today! Check it out below and make sure you download it from here
