Peter Lix drops stunning track ‘Apollo’s Theme’ on Dojo Audio

Introducing Peter Lix‘s latest release on Dojo Audio, ‘Apollo’s Theme’, a fresh and vibrant tribute to the captivating tale of King Midas and the deity Apollo.

According to the fable, Apollo skillfully played his melodious lyre, a harp with a distinctive U-shape, in a musical competition. Regrettably, King Midas, driven by favouritism, controversially selected a satyr named Marsyas as the victor. As a response, Apollo decided to punish Midas by afflicting him with the ears of a donkey.

‘Apollo’s Theme’, on the other hand, bears no such curse but rather embraces the enchanting sounds of a beautiful harp, which serves as the heart of the composition. Additionally, gentle oscillating pads contribute a touch of melancholic emotion, while subtly played piano notes provide occasional melodic intricacy. The arrangement is further enhanced by nostalgic retro undertones, reminiscent of the hardcore era of the early 90s, manifested through pitched-up vocal effects.

This track, ‘Apollo’s Theme’, skillfully combines ambient elements with energetic beats, creating a captivating contrast. The relentless beats interweave effortlessly with a sustained, modulating sub-bassline. It’s the kind of composition that seamlessly fits into both your workout playlist, motivating you to push your limits, and your tranquil drive back home, providing a soothing soundtrack.

In Peter’s own words: “My daughter and I are fascinated by Greek Mythology, and the story of King Midas and Apollo is one we had recently read. I love string instruments, too, so when I started tinkering in the studio and came across this harp the whole theme began to fall into place. My intention was to capture both the beauty of Apollo’s performance and the fatalistic outcome for King Midas”.
