Lynx ‘Vault 4’ LP unlocks two decades of Drum & Bass history

Share

When Lynx drops something called ‘Vault 4’, the scene stops and listens. This one is not just another collection of hidden cuts. This is the 50th release on Detail Recordings and a full-blown celebration of 15 years of graft, graft, and more graft. From the first spin, ‘Vault 4’ hits with that unmistakable sense of history, rebuilt and boosted for today’s dancefloors.

As always, the ‘Vault’ series is where Lynx delves into the hard drives and uncovers the unreleased gems. But this edition goes even deeper. Many tracks have been reconstructed from scratch, with fresh production and modern engineering lifting each idea into new territory. It feels like stepping into a time capsule that has been given a 2025 level glow up.

The big emotional punch arrives with ‘Welcome to the Future’, the long-standing favourite he toured with Kemo as far back as 2007. Followers of Lynx will know this tune has existed in different shapes over the years. Now it finally lands in its definitive form, built for packed basements, late-night rooftops and those sweaty moments where the lights feel too bright and the bass feels too heavy.

Another special moment comes in the form of ‘PTO’, the collaboration with the late Marcus Intalex. The pair cooked this one up in Manchester back in 2009 while Lynx was preparing his debut album plans with Soul:R. They laughed that the tune sounded a bit plain at the time, which inspired the title. Hearing it now, it feels timeless. With the blessing of Marcus’s mum, Pat, it finally sees daylight and brings a powerful emotional weight to Lynx’s ‘Vault 4’.

The full project spans material written between 2006 and 2021, mapping Lynx’s evolution from experimental architect to certified Drum & Bass auteur. Collaborations with Bagshot, Radzta and CutKeyLow round out a selection that blends throwback flavour with forward-focused energy. It is raw, refined and rooted in culture. ‘Vault 4’ does exactly what the title suggests. It unlocks a hidden history that was never meant to stay hidden.

Alongside the release, it is worth noting that Lynx has been carving out a serious lane with his own mastering platform, Dnbmastering. Originally launched almost five years ago, it began as a favour for friends and a couple of labels. It soon became clear there was a real gap in the market for a service run by an established Drum & Bass artist who understands the sound from the inside out.

Today, Dnbmastering works with a wide roster of labels and producers, including V Recordings, Soul In Motion, Metalheadz, Influence Records, Detail Recordings, 31 and Onwards Music. Lynx takes the process further than a standard mastering service by offering detailed mixdown advice before the final stage. Artists are encouraged to make those adjustments and return a revised version, allowing the master to hit even harder. Combined with his reputation for quick turnaround times, it has become a trusted go-to for projects working on tight label deadlines.

We’ve been given the real honour and privilege to premiere not one but two tracks from the ‘Vault 4’ album. First up, last week we premiered Lynx & Kemo Ft Hellrazor ‘Welcome To the Future’ which you can check out below:

And secondly, today we premiere ‘PTO’, which Lynx made with Marcus Intalex. I’m so grateful that Lynx has decided to release this track because it is absolute GOLD! Big ups, Lynx, and thanks to Marcus’ mum for allowing him to release it. Rest In Peace, Marcus ❤️
