J:Rover returns to SINE Audio with ‘Adrenaline’ EP

Share

Quickly becoming a label favourite, SINE Audio have got J:Rover making his second appearance on SINE Audio with his ‘Adrenaline’ EP. This time, he’s in full control releasing as a solo producer – flanked by yin and yang appearances of Phoebe Train supplying angelic vocals, and Weaver spitting darkness.

The EP kicks off with ‘Hold On’, beginning with a rave-inspired vocal sample that cuts through a white noise hiss. Then the bassline enters; wide and wobbly, and beefed up even further with distorted growls. There’s plenty of activity down below, but it works in harmony. This track is a certified roller, doing serious work on club systems.

The title track ‘Adrenaline’ features ice-cold orating from the exciting young Bristol MC Weaver. Running in parallel are the beats and bass – just as biting. J:Rover applies sweeping subs and mids, reinforced by heavy kicks and snares, filling it out with jittery bits and pieces. The result? Proper funk.

‘S Across The Chest’ comes next, again he draws on an old-school rave sample to set the vibe. But this tune leans much further into those inspirations – complete with busy breakbeats and samples, it’s a serious workout. On the lower end of the spectrum, there’s still a lot of action: Distorted synths sizzle in and out, while the throbbing sub leaves you feeling giddy.

Rounding off the EP is ‘Grow’ where J:Rover goes deep and soulful. He lays down an acoustic-sounding break while softening the beats with billowing atmospherics, and a smooth low-end pulse. The track is spacious – and that’s where up-and-coming talent Phoebe Train comes in. She nails a jazzy vocal performance, that J:Rover spaces out with reverb and FX. A highlight for the liquid heads.

Today we premiere ‘S Across The Chest’ which you can check out beo=low. The ‘Adrenaline’ EP drops via SINE Audio on Wednesday 1st March, make sure yougrab a copy from here!
