Gravital returns to Identity Records with ‘The Trance’ EP

Share

Emerging as a key player in the world of minimal Drum & Bass, Gravital drops a round of weighty tracks in the form of ‘The Trance’ EP on Identity Records. This producer does not mess around – each track sheds light on his ability to mould textures that hold infinite chasms of depth, infusing them with a hybrid inflexion of styles and vibes, breathing new life into the science of stripped-back productions. Dive deep into this with reckless abandon, as each layer festers with mind-numbing nuggets of sound that are impossible to resist.

The title track rips into heady sci-fi territory, employing a rolling atmosphere teeming with a bassline that carries you far inside the nearest black hole. Meanwhile, a cluster of top-end chatter echoes a sensation of ricocheting off stars at light speed. With each utterance of the phrase “into the trance”, the track pulls you deeper inside and makes it abundantly clear there is no intention of ever letting go.

‘Bless’ turns left into far more sinister territory, using the dual attack of haunting atmospheres and rambunctious energy to keep you anxiously aching for more. Pairing the drop with a delayed-soaked phrase creates a formidable impact, as the speaker-busting bassline overwhelmingly dominates the soundscape; the sub itself is a true highlight, reaching down past subterranean tones that we never knew existed.

An acidic synth line launches ‘Combination’ into the stratosphere. A true weapon, the blasts of noise rip and roar throughout the track with searing intensity. Backed by the toughest of rhythm sections, its only aim is to amp things up to the max second by second. The reprieve offered by the break is only momentarily, as it gears up for a second drop that is as punishing as it is satisfying.

For the finale, Gravital pulls out the stomper ‘Pretty Gal’. Music doesn’t come any more raucous than this, as he mixes his passion for minimalism with serious jungle choppage. From the gritty vocals to the chaotic bent of the drum fills, this is one built for the sound system. Upon first listen the image of a wild churning dance floor immediately floods the mind – especially solidified by the extreme ebb and flow amongst the varied tones present in every fibre of this track.

Today we premiere ‘Pretty Gal’ which you can check out below. Gravital drops ‘The Trance’ EP this Friday 27th September, you can grab a copy here!
