Genic drop ‘The Choice’ EP on Dispatch

Share

‘The Choice’ EP sees the return of Genic to Dispatch Recordings for a 4 track release aimed squarely at the dancefloor. Made to suit their own style of DJing, each tune is tailor-made for the kind of rolling blends that allow for creative mixing. Strongly techno-influenced, the whole EP is packed with the deep funky basslines that fans of Genic will be familiar with.

Genic have hit the scene hard with their debut releases on Cyberfunk and Dispatch, gaining instant support from heavyweights such as Noisia, Xtrah, René LaVice, Ant TC1 and many more. Their sets consist of a blend of their Drum & Bass favourites along with an ever-growing amount of unreleased dubs.

The response from crowds when playing shows in iconic venues such as Le Bikini and alongside Drum and Bass legends such as Phace, Icicle and Teddy Killerz, is a testament to the fact that Genic have more than one trick up their sleeve!

Genic have a diverse array of influences; from old school to new age Drum & Bass, Techno, Hip Hop, Reggae, Funk, Soul and Jazz. This, as well as a tenacity to improve, has lead to an innate ability to create a wide variety of musical genres and styles whilst retaining their meticulously crafted signature ‘Genic’ sound.

‘Chonka’ was a firm favourite of label head Ant TC1 and featured as his opening or closing track at many of his last U.K. tour dates. Black Barrel has since asked to do his own remix of this one, a sure-fire seal of approval.

The title track ‘Choice’ builds and twists through looping vocal edits and rolling bass, ‘Inspo’ features a serious acid synth line and driving percussion and ‘We Reckon’ develops into a weighty stomper from another distorted a looping vocal sample.

A welcome return to the label, watch this space for a further run of music from the duo across 2022 and beyond…

Today we premiere ‘Chonka’ which you can check out below. The EP dropped today (Friday 8th April) and is available for you to grab from here!
