Cymbolic Is Back and ‘Glowstate’ Is Everything the Dancefloor Needs Right Now

Altius Sounds is on a roll, and their latest signing-slash-comeback story is one worth paying attention to. Cymbolic, the 28-year-old liquid Drum & Bass producer who has been quietly stacking up credits on Colab Recordings, C Recordings, Dazed Muzic and more, is back on home turf with ‘Glowstate’, dropping 26th June.

Two tracks. No filler. Just pure, feel-it-in-your-chest liquid Drum & Bass that hits whether you’re lost in a late-night basement session or catching rays at an open-air rave. This is the kind of EP that makes a room breathe differently.

Lead cut ‘Don’t Wait For Me’ sets the tone immediately. Warm atmospherics roll in like a slow tide, melodies unfurl with real intention, and before you know it, you’re somewhere else entirely. It’s introspective without being self-indulgent, emotive without being soft. The kind of track that sits at the back of your mind long after the system’s been switched off.

Then ‘Essence’ flips the script just enough to keep things interesting. Deeper, groovier, with percussion that winds and uncoils in all the right places and a low-end that flows rather than pounds. There’s a real sense of space in this one, a captivating sense of movement that rewards proper listening, not just background streaming.

Cymbolic has earned serious credibility sharing stages with the likes of Spectrasoul, LSB, Benny L, Annix, T>I, Pendulum and DJ Fresh, and every one of those nights shows in how he writes. This is a producer who understands the dancefloor from the inside, who knows that liquid Drum & Bass at its best carries feeling as well as function.

‘Glowstate’ does both. Rich harmonic textures, soulful musical elements, crisp contemporary production and enough rolling bassline energy to hold its own in a peak-time set. Two tracks, two different emotional frequencies, one cohesive and deeply satisfying release.
