Four samplers deep, the story finally lands in full. ‘Cosmic Expression’, the debut long player from Myselor on Evolution Chamber, drops on Friday 18th September, and it is a proper trip, the kind that starts in your chest before it reaches your feet.
This is not a record built for the casual scroll. Twenty tracks, one narrative, moving through neurofunk pressure, rolling Drum & Bass, dubstep weight, breakbeat swing and stretches of ambient calm that let you catch your breath before the next drop lands. It is a record that trusts the listener to sit with it, and it rewards that trust every time.
Myselor, real name Dimitrios Chasouras, has been building toward this since 2010. Originally from Greece and now based out of Basel, he has spent releases like ‘Evolution’, ‘Rebirth’, ‘Soul Power’ and ‘Intuition’ sharpening a sound that never sat still, always chasing atmosphere as hard as it chased the low end. ‘Cosmic Expression’ is that instinct pushed to its fullest, a project that refuses to pick a lane and sounds all the better for it.
The four samplers, ‘Breaking Chains‘, ‘Waves Of Change‘, ‘Visionary Flashes‘ and ‘Break / Urban Pulse’, gave us the chapters. Now nine new tracks fill in the gaps, including the title pairing of ‘Cosmic Expression (Prelude)’ into ‘Cosmic Expression’ itself, a moment that ties the whole record together and hits hard enough to earn its place at the centre.
Sonically, it swings from neurofunk snarl to breakbeat bounce without ever losing its footing, the kind of shift that plays just as well in a sweaty basement as it does bouncing off a warehouse roof at 3am. There is enough low end here to rattle a festival rig and enough space in the arrangements to let it breathe on a Sunday morning comedown set. That range is the point.
Twenty tracks is a big ask on paper, but this one earns every minute. It is a proper listen, not a playlist filler, and it deserves your full attention the first time round.
‘Cosmic Expression’ is out via Evolution Chamber on 18th September. Pre-order it now and give your neighbours something to talk about.
