DJ Komatose & Captain Apathy go straight for the jugular with ‘Body Rocker’ EP

Share

If you like your Drum & Bass raw, instinctive and engineered for dark rooms and heaving subs, the ‘Body Rocker’ EP lands exactly where it should. This is the first joint release from DJ Komatose and Captain Apathy on their freshly launched CK Records, and it wastes absolutely no time getting to the point. No overthinking, no polishing for the sake of it. Just two producers locking into a shared studio mindset and letting the pressure do the talking.

The energy in the ‘Body Rocker’ EP lives in that sweet spot between heavy-handed dancefloor impact and stripped-back intent. Written and driven by feel rather than formula, the release captures a moment of chemistry that feels urgent, unfiltered and very much alive. You can hear it in the swing, the weight and the confidence. This is music made for clubs, basements and warehouse systems…not laptops and coffee shops!

DJ Komatose and Captain Apathy have both carved their own paths in Drum & Bass, but this collaboration marks a new phase. CK Records gives them full freedom to move on instinct, cut out the noise and focus purely on sound system weight and clarity. That independence bleeds into every bar of this release.

The title track and our premiere, ‘Body Rocker’, comes in heavy and unapologetic. Built around a thick, weighty 808 foundation, it is direct, aggressive and designed to do damage in peak-time moments. The groove punches hard, the low-end rolls with intent and everything is locked tightly in place. This one is all about pressure and physical reaction. Heads down, shoulders moving, reloads guaranteed.

On the flip, ‘Goes Like This’ strips things back while keeping the tension high. Sculpted mid-bass textures lead the charge, paired with minimal drums that leave plenty of room for the groove to breathe. It is controlled, precise and quietly dangerous. A track built for late-night sessions where the system does the heavy lifting and the crowd leans in.

Across the EP, the production stays clean and purposeful. Crisp percussion slices through the mix, the low-end stays heavy but disciplined, and nothing feels wasted. CK Records sets its stall out early here, focused on club energy, sound system translation and instinct-led releases that speak directly to the dancefloor.

This is a strong opening statement and a clear signal of what is to come.
