Ben Soundscape set to drop ‘The Studio’ EP

Intrigue Music reaches its landmark 50th release with an EP from label boss Ben Soundscape. Written and produced throughout lockdown, ‘The Studio’ EP is a literal celebration of the creative space that allowed him much needed escape and expression. Creative use of dialogue samples runs throughout the EP. The tracks quickly became lockdown anthems after getting their first airing during the weekly Intrigue Music live streams. Fans even began to quote their favourite samples in the chat each week.

The title track ‘The Studio’ features a sample from one of Ben’s favourite TV shows, telling a story of a room with just the right vibe. A place to go late at night, somewhere to be creative and undisturbed – a place that is ‘just his and nobody else’s’. Looking out over Bristol, the studio has also been home to many parties. This EP perfectly captures all those memories, a love letter to this musical safe haven.

Ben Soundscape really needs very little introduction. He is a Drum & Bass DJ/Producer from Bristol who started producing music at the age of just 17, with Danny C being the first to notice him. Danny signed Ben for the debut release on Blue Box back in 2002, under his first alias First Light. Soon after, Ben formed a duo with friend Joe Wills called The Insiders. Together they drew influences from everything from soul, funk and jazz to house, techno and film soundtracks. They went on to release material on some of the greatest labels in the scene. Intrigue as club night followed, with the record label joining the fold a few years later.

Today we premiere ‘Trippin” which you can check out below. The EP drops on 29th April with the title track dropping as a single this Friday 22nd April. Make sure you grab a copy from here!
