AL:X drops ‘Babylon Man’ on Skalator Music
The next release from Skalator Music is the debut solo Drum & Bass single, from Singapore based Portuguese DJ/Producer AL:X.
AL:X has been a member of the Skalator Music crew for some time now, he’s been a constant name on the Portuguese Drum & Bass scene since 2001, whether as part of one of Lisbon’s oldest and influential bass music outfits Cooltrain Crew, or smashing the capital clubs with his prolific DJ sets.
AL:X is also a multi talented musician, releasing two critically acclaimed albums with the Portuguese Hip-Hop band Macacos do Chinês, and he’s currently working and touring with MAS1A, Singapore’s Hip-Hop/Reggae phenomenon.
This single fully encompasses AL:X’s versatility as a producer, with both cuts oozing his already trademark approach to Drum & Bass production.
Kicking things off is our premiere ‘Babylon Man’ which builds progressively with its dreamy piano chords, filtered guitar licks and a memorable delayed vocal sample, dropping into a groovy bassline track that will keep the dancefloor bubbling throughout the track.
On the B Side, AL:X switches things up for ‘Velvet Like’ delivering a perfectly balanced slice of future funk. The track is fueled by cheeky vocal cuts, loose breakbeat influenced drums, and deep energetic pads, before dropping into a funk orientated bassline monster accompanied by slow guitar licks and more vocoded nuttery.
The AL:X’s two track single is out on 27th September you can pre-order here
