Furniss returns to Prototype Recordings with ‘Smoke’

Share

Northampton based bad boy Furniss is back on Prototype Recordings with his second release in the form of a 2 track single.

Our premiere is ‘Smoke’, the title track, which comes with a fantastic construction of sounds, hard grunting basslines and a sample from the late The Notorious B.I.G‘s ‘Marijuana Smoke’, it’s pretty apt for today’s upload really. Relax and take note!

The B side ‘Offensive’ is moody with volatile drums and unpredictable menacing bass. A proper urban-edged dancefloor wonder.

Furniss has never been one to be pigeon-holed. He has learned his craft as one half of Manna Sounds, alongside fellow Northamptonian Minto, he’s constantly proven he can cross-pollinate and meld sub-genre conventions into something brand new.

No surprise, then, that the duo quickly caught the attention of DJ Sly, leading to a statement-of-intent EP release on his Higher Stakes Recordings. ‘Until the End’ blended elements of liquid, jungle, and classic dancefloor rollers, standing out amongst the label’s predominantly jump-up output and making these guys ones to watch.
As a solo artist, the reputation of Furniss has been steadily growing in prominence ever since. A series of competition wins have established him as a DJ to be reckoned with nationwide. Securing himself a coveted spot as one of Eksman‘s Next Hype Allstars, constantly honing his skills, and building his armoury of dubs, he’s just as capable behind the decks as he is in the studio.

And talking of those studio skills, it’s become strikingly evident that Furniss is all about striving towards improvement. He’s already been mentored by Turno as part of the “Your Time is Now” programme and releases on prestigious labels like Serial Killaz and On Point Audio tell their own story. And, it seems, garnering regular support from a roll call of A-listers like Grooverider, DJ Hype, Nicky Blackmarket, Micky Finn and Bladerunner has served to spur him on to even further exploits.

Happy 4:20 Day! Fire up a blunt and check out Furniss ‘Smoke’ below! It’s out on Prototype Recordings on 8th May so make sure you grab a copy!
