Summer house season needs records that get to the point.
Esse. lands on There Was Jack with ‘Stop Tonight’, released on 12th June, and it feels like a clean fit for a label that has always kept one eye firmly on the dancefloor.
The Italian DJ and producer launched the Esse. project in 2023, building a sound that sits between house and tech house, with enough melodic touch to keep things moving beyond straight-up club tools.
In a short space of time, his music has picked up support from CASSIMM, Roger Sanchez, Mark Knight and David Penn, while releases on Club Sweat, Kokolores Records, Let There Be House, and Cruise Music have helped push his name into the right record bags.
‘Stop Tonight’ is built with DJs in mind. The drums are straight, the bassline has that funk-led roll, and the spoken vocal gives it a bit of late-night bite without crowding the groove. As the break opens up, the track adds just enough tension before dropping back into the kind of house pressure that works in basements, rooftops and festival tents when the sun is still refusing to give up.
For There Was Jack, it is another sharp addition to a catalogue that knows its lane. Proper clubhouse, no messing about.
