Cristina Lazic is Back and She’s Bending Time

Share

After a short break, Cristina Lazic returns swinging with a cut that’s got serious bounce and brains to match. We’re talking acid kisses, rubber bass, and grooves slicker than your mate’s afterparty excuses. “Watch The Time” is the lead track from her new EP on LA ZIC, and we’ve got the premiere right here.

Cristina’s been carving her own lane in the underground for a while now, from her early days on Crosstown Rebels to crafting her own sonic identity through her label. This one lands like a proper statement. The drums are tight, the groove’s hypnotic, and the synths? Pure warp-mode. It’s peak-hour energy, made for hazy rooftops, basement thumps, and those 5 a.m. ‘just one more’ moments.

The track’s all about movement. It doesn’t shout, it flows, pulling you in and locking you into its groove without ever letting go. There’s a tension in the percussion, a swagger in the low end, and just enough weirdness to keep the heads hooked.

“Watch The Time’ is one of my most personal releases to date. It’s a joyful, yet reflective journey through the concept of time, a theme that has always guided my artistic work, together with other surrealistic themes like the space, cosmic elements, and metaphors like the portal (which you find in the cover of the EP), hourglass and the mirror. This EP marks a brighter, more summer-infused chapter for LA ZIC, versus my previous EPs – which were more introspective, darker and progressive. Collaborating with ABEL on ‘I Need You’ I have explored the topic of emotional distance in the digital age, while bringing in LondonGround – a longtime inspiration and Simes – a rising talent I deeply believe in – as remixers for “Watch The Time” has made the project even more meaningful. All the artists involved are not only talented creatives but also incredible, hard working and good people and they totally reflect the kind of creative community I want to build with La Zic. Ultimately, “Watch The Time” It’s a celebration of presence, memory, and connection, all in their fragile beauty.”

We truly love Crisitna at Data Transmission, and she’s in full control here, and if this is the direction her label’s heading, we’re fully along for the ride.

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
