Boom Merchant brings the pressure on Kuukou with ‘Peer Pressure’.

Kuukou keeps things moving on Friday 24 April with a sharp two-tracker from Boom Merchant, and we’ve got the premiere of the title cut, ‘Peer Pressure’, on NUDE Techno.

The Irish artist, now based in Mexico, makes his debut on Simina Grigoriu’s label with a release that leans into the tougher end of his sound. Raw, driving and full of tension, this is techno built for dark rooms and late hours. Boom Merchant has already turned heads with releases on labels including Autektone and his own Tribal Pulse, and this one slots neatly into that world.

Leading the EP, ‘Peer Pressure’ wastes no time. Grinding stabs, a throbbing low end and a rising arpeggio keep things locked, while the vocal punches through the middle and ramps the energy up another notch. It’s got that heads-down, hands-up feel to it, the kind of track that does damage in sweaty basements and after-hours spots.

On the flip, ‘Arco’ digs even deeper. High-speed drums, flurries of melody and a ghostly vocal loop give it a darker edge, with just enough emotion cutting through the weight of the groove.

If you like your techno hypnotic, rugged and just the right side of euphoric, this one is worth your time.
