BLK&WHT Drops Peak-Time Pressure with ‘Control’ on Us & Machines

We love a debut that doesn’t mess about. San Francisco’s BLK&WHT has come out swinging with ‘Control’, the first release on brand new imprint Us & Machines and it’s a certified slab of tech house heat.

If you’ve been lurking in the darker corners of the Bay Area scene, you’ll know BLK&WHT is no newcomer. Real name Leonard Isaac Cohen, he’s been building a name with off-kilter grooves and club-tested pressure, from dubstep roots to Dirtybird-approved rollers. Out Past 2 did damage, and now he’s back with a fresh two-tracker that hits hard and keeps it weird in all the right ways.

‘Control’ is all about that late-night tension. Industrial stabs, vocal fragments dripping with attitude, and a bassline that grabs you by the hips and won’t let go. It’s made for strobes, sweat, and the 3 AM crew who don’t want to go home. Flip it for ‘Arts & Fashion’, a deeper trip with cinematic edges and sunrise energy. Think filter sweeps, looped vocals, and that warm thump that keeps your eyes closed but your feet moving.

“Us & Machines is about trusting instincts, building culture, and creating music that is raw, honest, and made to move,” says Buck. “I wanted this label to stand for something, and Control felt like the right place to start — a balance between tension and release.”

This one also marks the launch of Us & Machines, a new label from Jacob Buck (aka Pressure Makes Diamonds). Buck’s no stranger to the grind and ex-Audiophile Music Group, he’s worked with heads like John Summit, Kyle Watson, and The Crystal Method. Now he’s building something new out of Chico, California, and if this release is anything to go by, it’s gonna be essential.
