Last week starting the 22nd of May until the 27th it was when you knew the summer season in Ibiza has officially begun. The International Music Summit brings a lot of artists, record labels and people working in the electronic music industry in general to the island. For this special occasion, Sonika Music, a well-known record label from Canada with a new base in Ibiza, Radio Party Groove from Italy and Loca FM Ibiza have joined forces to put up a showcase on the rooftop of the beautiful hotel Ocean Drive in Marina Botafoch Ibiza last Thursday 24th of May. A great party, from 12 pm till midnight with DJ sets and live acts.

We could enjoy the music of twelve national and international artists that showcased not only on the rooftop but also through live radio and online broadcast in Italy, thanks to the Radio Party Groove Team and in Ibiza thanks to Loca FM and Sonika Music.

With all the big names on the island coming and going for the IMS, this showcase was put up with the intention of supporting not so known DJs that have come to Ibiza to share their art. Alongside Gretsenia Martins, Manuel Grandi, Jey Indahouse, Alex Paoloni, JL, Giorgio Guerra, Davide Dee, Mirko Paoloni, Rino Ticli, Gianluca Argante, Alex Rouk (time set order), CC Brown, Marco Moony and Ari Murzik offered live acts that kept the public dancing on house beats. Classics and fresh tracks sounded from Ocean Drive’s rooftop for the all age public that came that day to the event. Leaving for a moment on the side the DJs what caught my eye was the incredible view from that rooftop. You can easily see not only Dalt Villa but the whole Ibiza Town, and the hills surrounding it, the look of the sunset was amassing as the sky was not clear and you could see rays of sunshine going through the clouds.

Gretsenia Martins opened the party with shamanic house, perfectly blending with the bright sunshine of noon, tracks like ‘Velvet’ from David August or Mathew Dekay’s ‘Fangtango’ rang as this spiritual lady was enchanting the public. Manuel Grandi was next and cheered up the public not only with house classics, but he also played some new tracks of his own like ‘The Winter’ and ‘Drop the Pressure’. Up next was Jay Indahouse, a well known local house DJ on the island that accompanies his sets with live percussion. He also delighted the public with some recent tracks he released like ‘Love Soul’ and ‘Diva Venezolana’ featuring Daizmar.

Marco Moony is also a very talented percussionist; he played alongside several of the artists improvising on his Roland Octapad over the live singing acts of both CC Brown and Ari Murzik.

Both  Paoloni brothers mixed with great skill very different music, Alex on one side played tracks like ‘Unlimited Love’ by Moon Rocket & Re-Tide and ‘Stuff Your Daddy Like’ by Fouk. Mirko on the other played a Loco Dice track ‘We’re Alive’ and ‘Countdown’by Francisco Allendes

Despite the weather getting windy, the people didn’t stop dancing and singing along with the artists. The closing was offered by Alex Rouk, founder of Sonika Music and supporter of many local artists around the island. Tracks like ‘Wonderlust’ by Otto Manz or his original track ‘House Music Is Back’ had everyone dancing. We had great fun and we even had the chance to chat with Alex Paoloni, one of the founders of Radio Party Groove, we will leave you with his words: We are delighted to make so many new friends from so many places, Radio Party groove is already growing in Italy, Switzerland and Holland and Ibiza is our next target. We want to transmit our love for music, our radio is seeking to deliver musical content of high quality, and Ibiza is the best place to do so. We want to reflect the contemporary DJ. We asked if there’s any possibility of collaborating with Loca FM and his response was: The island is magic, everything is possible.
