Purity at B12 Gallery Ibiza

We were tired of all the pictures on social media that show the countdown until the Ibiza summer season starts or photos at parties in Ibiza clubs from previous years decorated with hashtags like #summernostalgia or #ibizasummercantwait, so we decided to check out the party offseason.

Last Friday the 2nd of March we were invited to an event hosted by the party label Purity at B12 Gallery, a venue just one minute away from the centre of Ibiza town. The main act was Hector Couto but he couldn´t attend because the flight had technical difficulties, so he left the ring for the rest of the DJs to entertain the night. The artists that formed the rest of the lineup were Shawnecy, Francisco Allendes, Nina Ly, Purity resident and Zuer.

B12 Gallery is a venue which opened for the first time in 2011 and has become the place to party during the winters of Ibiza hosting exciting expositions, fashion shows and everything you can imagine. Besides the beautiful art gallery and the art pieces that you can see at the entrance, the venue has excellent acoustics to complement a Funktion-one + D&B sound system.
Leaving to the side the technicalities, let’s talk about the host, Purity. This brand started in 2016 by the efforts of Paul Dima and Andy Bauman, and since then artists like UNER, Joey Daniel, HOSH, Darius Syrossian, Anna Tur, Iban Mendoza, Stephane Ghenacia, Rober Drewek, Rosario Internullo and Sean Doron among others have rocked the decks at their events.

If you thought that nothing goes on in Ibiza during the winter, you couldn’t be more wrong! The fact that not many places are open and all you have is the weekend, people of all kinds and all ages gather to have fun and enjoy themselves. A colourful and diverse crowd that can be tricky to please, all DJs nevertheless knew how to read the public and gradually guide them through the night. They passed from House at the opening of the night through Tech-house and ended in heavy Techno that left the people craving for an afterparty. Recently released tracks to highlight are Waze and Odyssey – ‘All of us’ played by Francisco Allendes and Nina Ly´s own production ‘Petit Paradox’ recently released on Hush Recordz.

The general vibe of the party was fantastic, the total number of attendants was 730, and despite the large number most of the people knew each other, and if they didn’t, they would make friends in no time. There was a certain familiarity with the vibe. The Dj booth was at the level of the ground, and all DJs were constantly shaking hands, dancing with the excited crowd and dropping killer tunes.We danced in joy as we discovered a different Ibiza, with our hands in the air, hugging the person next to us or even recognising themes from past raves one thing was sure, and that the one thing everyone had in common was the spirit of the white island.

Now, if you are looking to do something different next weekend, flight prices to Ibiza at this time of year are decent, the weather is marvellous and the music is top!
