Yotam Avni – UR Sleeping / Better Days

Be As One, for those of you who’ve yet to encounter the label, has always been a reputable source for solid tech-house goodness. The label, ran by Israeli producer Shlomi Aber, clearly has an ear for the more refined and cultured sound of the spectrum if their latest is anything to go by too. Refreshingly, the imprint also maintains a vehemently local agenda, with a slew of the label’s best works coming straight out of Israel. On that note, their most recent outing, by Yotam Avni, is another all round winner.

It’s downright effective for that matter too. On ‘’UR Sleeping’’, there’s a cosmic sheen, a series of swelling synths and a delightful vocal snippets that all work wonders when paired together. Sit back and watch as this one lights up winter dancefloors thanks to its many hypnotic charms.

On the flip, ‘’Better Days’’ is a track that’s every bit as delicate as it is made for the floor. Full of robust charm, it snaking, hissing snares are a real treat, but it’s the hum of the bassline that grants this one a dizzying introspective charm that makes it hard to jettison. Once again, Aber has rolled a six with his eclectic A&R methods. Here’s to much more of the same from Aber, Avni and Be As One in 2015.
