Data Transmission travels around the world, exploring local scenes, getting the inside information on from the locals, could be a trip to a festival to a small rave a remote part of the world, it’s about finding out the unknown and submerging sounds. For the first in this new series we ventured to Exit Festival in Serbia in July 2016 to find out about the history behind Serbian Electronic Music and their scene and how music has evolved over the years. We wanted to focus on how Exit Festival has helped to change the culture in Serbia and what influence it has brought to the country.
We spoke to the founders of Exit Festival and also three prominent DJs in the local scene in Tijana T, John Belk and DJ Lag about their experiences with electronic music in the country, what it was like growing up listening to music, smuggling of records in to the country and what its like now.
