In a world where EDM has – much to the detriment of everyone else – become the most popular strand of electronic music in the world, it’s refreshing to listen to a host of labels that actually believe that less can mean more. And one such label that’s earned its reputation on doing things by their own watch is Hamburg label Diynamic, the imprint helmed by Solomun and H.O.S.H.

The label’s latest outing sees relative newcomer Thyladomid take to the stage for ‘The Real Thing’, a stunning release that is arguably also the label’s most assured sounding for some time yet. Such is the A&Ring level at the label that you’re unlikely to encounter formulaic tracks, and the homework here really shines through, as the up-and-coming German makes quite the impression thanks to the sultry strands of the original. The sort of track that hints at the musicianship of the producer, it gets under the skin like few others we’ve stumbled across of late.

Of the remixes, Stimming’s is the best of the two. Right from the off, we know that the original’s ghoulish tendencies, its clever strings and its haunting vocals would work a treat when given to Stimming, and he doesn’t disappoint either, as he turns in a remix that’s indicative of his recent liking for unusual house music. Swiss boys Adriatique bring the track firmly in the direction of the floor, rounding off a release that’s notable for its many constrasting delights.

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
