Super Flu walk us through Musik 3+

Hailing from Halle/Saale, Germany, Felix Thielemann and Mathias Schwarz aka Super Flu are unquestionably one of dance music’s most unique acts. The pair have built up an impressive reputation for their ambitious signature sound which covers everything from classic house to orchestral and has won them respect from music lovers and industry peers alike.

A remarkable culmination of productions, ‘Musik 3’ was an exquisite listening experience that wove listeners through infectious vocals and up-tempo dance-floor cuts. Fully immersing themselves in to each project they’ve embarked on, ‘Musik 3’ is still the perfect presentation of their studio work, providing a different shade of electronic sounds to please each and every electronic music lover.

Now, 12 of dance music’s leading lights have been hand-selected by Super Flu to remix ‘Musik 3’. Each artist has re-imagined varying tracks from ‘Musik 3’ to impressive effect, certain to light up clubs all over the world. ‘Musik 3+’ provides a dazzling selection of remixes that add a new, dance floor focused dimension to Super Flu’s highly successful original album and shows not only how well connected the pair are to dance music’s most prominent luminaries but also how prolific the Super Flu boys are (in 2016 alone, the pair played 120 gigs around the globe).

We chatted to Super Flu about Musik 3+ to find out how each of the remixes came about and the stories behind them.

We met on a flight from London to Dubai where we then traded him for a couple of camels. But not before getting the remix first. His interpretation of ‘mygut’ is so smooth on the ears.

Tim Engelhardt

We wanted something beautiful, something professional and most importantly something recognizable. So, we wrote Tim a few love letters to get a piece of his creativity for the album. Great remix, great person!

Mathias Kaden

High up on the Mount Everest: a coincidental, but momentous encounter leading to a grand remix. He had all he needed with him; Laptop, monitor boxes and a few Sherpa. Not more than 3 hours later in -70 degrees the thing was through!

Thank you Mathias Messner!

A new friend, a new remix. We found each other in the wide world of the Internet. And we are so happy about it! And even happier about what he created with his remix of ‘3,1’. It is really something you can play at any time and any place!

Berghain, Darkroom, 5, 6 blood alcohol level, locked eyes and a kiss, and a remix born out of this moment. We pull this secret weapon out every time it gets a bit harder. Techno at its finest.

Daniel Stefanik

Don’t think we have shared even one stage on this planet. So of course, we had to bring him on board! If you need something that works 100% on the dance floor you ask Daniel!

Viktor Talking Machine

These guys have been our close friends for years now, and we also share our common girly passion for dressage. From the horseback to the studio and back. A gentle thanks to our two vinyliasts for this playful and gorgeous interpretation of our Insi-baby!

Oliver Koletzki

A kind, empathic and deep person with a great feeling for music, so we just had to ask him! An exquisite piece! Thanks Oli!

When you meet someone via a dating site and discover that you have the same taste in music the natural next step is a child. Our kid is named ‘Mine*You’ and we love it!

Guy Mantzur & Roy Rosenfeld

Our common sauna visits in Casablanca had to bear fruit. We consider this remix to be something that you can lean back and enjoy, but also something for rackety dancing. It just fits all moods.

A success guaranteed and sound genius! We met on one of our many travels around the globe. We are very proud to say that he worked his magic to create something for us that will be talked about for years to come. Not to mention we really like his well-groomed beard.

We quickly needed a last remix so we decided to ask out Italian pizza delivery guy, named him Cioz, and applied a bit of pressure. A wonderful song and a sweet dude! Kisses!

Ole Biege

Somewhere in a female shower he started talking to us, and ever since we have not been able to get rid of each other. A nice body and a great remix of ‘2DaBeat’! Deep and coltish! That’s how we like it!

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
