Submit Hub Masterclass with Jason Grishkoff

Share

In this video, I chatted with Jason Grishkoff founder & CEO of Submit Hub live on my twitch stream.

We spoke in depth about running a successful playlist company, how the platform works and best practices for using the site. Jason Grishkoff also gave some great insights into playlisting do’s & don’ts, the grey areas of Spotify playlisting and also the broader music industry in general.

Jason offers a modern music promotion service unlike any other. As the original pioneer of the “pay for consideration” model, SubmitHub’s business model revolves around decisions made based on subjective taste, instead of who can afford to put the most money behind supporting their new release.

SubmitHub’s team of curators, who run prominent blogs and playlists such as EARMILK, DUMMY, Stereofox, CloudKid, BIRP, are paid the same regardless of whether they decline or share a song, with all of their historical statistics on display for users to see. The goal is to provide submitters and artists as much information about where a curator shares, how often they share, and what the quality of those shares are like.

The service offers unique elements such as detailed statistics about each Spotify playlist available to submit to, including their estimated listeners (based on data provided by artists they’ve previously shared).

Choosing to highlight the subjective taste and artistic merit over money alone in deciding the level of coverage is a key factor which distinguishes SubmitHub from its competitors.

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
