Berlin’s Out-Er imprint has made a solid entry into the world with releases from The Analogue Cops, Luciano Esse and Santorini. Here they turn to Italian techno man Simone Gatto for a tough four track EP that once again confirms they are a label with a great ear for A&Ring top talent. What Gatto serves up is a diverse four tracker that’s alive with an otherworldly static.

The pick of the bunch might be the lazy, deep rolling ‘They Are Watching Us’ with its rich rubbery kicks and sense of floating sci-fi alienisms. Kicking much harder is Motherland with its busy synths bringing plenty of personality to the more brash beats below. Elsewhere ‘Scorpion’ is coiled up with a wiry IDM kineticism as scraping perc and restless beats roam about under skittish snares. It’s dystopian and apocalyptic and perfect to get lost in. Final cut November shows off Gatto’s knack for great sound design and lovely warm organic analogue surfaces. Crisp hi hats skip with a real life charm over heavy, rubberised kicks as thin future facing synths tie it all together in the background. A varied and original EP overall, then.
