Reviewed: Better Together at Ushuaia & Hï Ibiza

Share

After a 2 year hiatus, Ibiza is definitely back with a bang with what we anticipate will be its’ biggest season to date. The billboards are up, the sun is out and the streets are already buzzing in their earliest ever season opening.

Two of Ibiza’s superclubs, Ushuaia and Hi Ibiza, combined forces for Better Together at their iconic venues over the Bank Holiday weekend for an epic sell out 10,000 capacity 24-hour party which included a raft of special issue sunrise tickets; taking revellers through from 6 am till lunchtime on the Sunday 1st May.

We saw seasoned artists from across the globe playing their own productions as well as an eclectic selection of tracks through to the likes of Ameme, who smashed his debut appearance at Hi. Combine this with the legendary pyrotechnics, light shows, smoke and confetti cannons these clubs are famous for this event did not disappoint!

Layla Benitez kicked off the show at Ushuaia, taking us through the afternoon with Mathame dropping classical samples through to deep beats. The reaction from the crowd to Kolsch handing over to Ukrainian duo Artbat gave us goosebumps despite the sunshine! We look forward to the return of Kolsch at ANTS in July.

As the sun went down, the sea of arms in the air got crazier as Stephan Bodzin and Paul Kalkbrenner took to the stage, lighting up the night sky and our ears with their electronic wizardry. The crowd were not letting up as we skipped across the road to get in on the action at Hi!

Chloe Caillet opened up the Hï Theatre as well as took over the Wild Corner with Pvblic Xcess, bringing us that chugging party vibe that’s made this one of our favourite toilets in the world. If you’ve not been to Hï Ibiza before, you seriously need to check these out!

Back in the Theatre, Damian Lazarus took over from Hï Ibiza newcomer Ameme, playing a blinding set; we can’t wait to hear more about his upcoming residency with Black Coffee commencing later in May.

Better Together

The Martinez Brothers took the club by storm, with an amazing tribal tech house set as the sun rose- well worth waiting for! They’ve set the bar exceptionally high for their Tuesday residency at Hi this year, which falls between June and September alongside Spain’s leading techno DJ, Paco Osuna and guests. We predict these will be extra busy events and we’ll definitely be back for them!

Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, in comes a Martinez- Black Coffee B2B set… just WOW. The people lucky enough to grab sunrise tickets certainly got a treat!

In the club room, Anfisa Letyago, Chris Leibing and Adam Beyer had the rafters shaking even before Charlotte de Witte and Paco Osuna took over the reins – what can we say? Pure quality!

In a nutshell- we certainly have plenty to look forward to this summer from Ushuaia and Hi with residencies from the likes of ANTS, Afterlife, Black Coffee & Damian Lazarus, Calvin Harris, Camelphat, Fisher, Glitterbox, Martinez Brothers, F*** Me I’m Famous and Tomorrowland Presents.

It’s most definitely good to be back. See you on the dancefloor.
