POPOF & Luca Donzelli walk us through their Amnesia 2017 Compilation

One of The White Isle’s most iconic clubs is proud to announce its new compilation, Amnesia Ibiza 2017. Featuring 33 tracks across two mixed discs, the first is from POPOF and Luca Donzelli.

POPOF, owner of FORM music, which is fast becoming essential brings a fantastic mix of fresh cuts from the likes of Herbert, Sven Tasnadi, Timid Boy, and countrymen Dan Ghenacia & Chris Carrier, going through many different shades of tech from deep and heady to more peak time and tripped out.

Where as CD2 comes from Luca Donzelli, an Italian who not only plays for HYTE at Amnesia but a producer with his own slick sound on labels like Amnesia resident Mar-T’s WOW! Recordings, brings a mix that perfectly embodies the sound of the club and starts with cosmic sounds from Kurl before masterfully weaving into driving house territory with cuts from Burnski, Cuartero and Sable Sheep.

We asked them to walk us through the compilation and pick out some of the records and why they’ve choose them.

POPOF’s choices

Herbert – Got To Be Movin (On The Dancefloor)
I’ve always been a huge Matthew Herbert fan, he’s a genius. It therefore made sense for me to use one of his tracks in my mix. Got to be movin’ is a bit old but it totally could have been released today since it’s such a timeless dancefloor classic!

Sven Tasnadi – Train
I discovered this track not long ago and I really liked his productions, as in all of them. He is such an outstanding producer, with a definite groove, a unique color and a very particular identity. All of his tracks are good so it took me some time before I picked this one.

Dan Ghenacia & Chris Carrier – The Blue Grass
I really loved this track, which was featured on their Blue EP released earlier this year on Apollonia. It’s quite sensual, with an underlying groove which will make you move! It’s very bouncy, jazzy, funky – in short I dig it!

And I’m very proud to say France is doing quite alright 😉

Makcim & Levi – Sowhaa
I recently discovered and liked a lot these two Dutch artists. They have a real, hypnotic, deep sound. There’s quality to it, it has this minimalist House vibe which I enjoy quite a lot. Their production really appeals to me because it’s very original, they really stand out because of their particular style. You absolutely need to check it out!

The Mekanism – Lost Girl
This is such a perfect track to make people dance! It’s very well-made and successful, just like all of The Mekanism’s tracks. A catchy bassline with bits of mind-boggling noises here and there and killer beats. For me, this is an undeniable Dancefloor hit.

Luca Donzelli choices

Carlo – Play The W
I loved this track since I heard it! It is so special for me, with this jazzy funk touch, but the groove and the bassline move my ass a lot!

Datamode – Calling The Boss
One of my special tracks of last period. A classical Tech House vibe, but made in an original way with this beautiful arpeggio! Wow!

Tian Karl – Luca Donzelli Remix
I’m so happy about this new track that I’ve made! This remix is so great for me! Really happy about the result! It will be released on Roush, soon!

Max Chapman – Leave Off
One of the best tracks of the year on our beloved Wow! Recordings. Everytime, everywhere you play this…wooooow!

FAMoo – Black Loops Remix
This guys from Tuscany are one of the best surprises for me from the last two years! Everytime that they release an Ep I buy and support at least one track! They are very talented.

Proudly People – What Is That
Big respect for these guys. Amazing production duo, that has super special groove in their blood! So impressed by their music style!

Oleg Mass – Ruins
When I discovered his profile on Beatport i found a looot of music. Unfortunately I didn’t know this guy before, but he has a really original touch on his tracks! So beautiful songs! This track is one of the best track I’ve heard since long time and it was the perfect one to close the CD.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
