May Bank Holiday Top 10 Parties
May is very nearly here and that means one thing only here at Data Transmission, two bank holiday weekends for the price of one. To make things a little easier on you we’ve pulled together a list of the top ten events happening across the UK this weekend, so if you don’t know which maypole to dance around we’ve got plenty for you to choose from.
If you’re one those 24 hour party people then Oval Space is the place to head down to on Friday as they open their doors for their first ever midnight to midnight marathon with a knockout line up from start to finish. Taking the reigns on the night is Jeff Mills, undisputedly one of the biggest names in techno, as he plays an extended 3 hour set, joined be a very special secret guest on the day/night.
Also embarking on a 3 hour journey will be Bulgarian producer KiNK, as well as Oval Space regular Radio Slave. Finishing up the line up is Blueprint Record’s James Ruskin, Icelandic producer Yagya and Berlin’s Fritz Zander.
We can’t think of any better way make a dent in this four day weekend, so if you haven’t already we recommend snatching up a ticket now before they’re all gone.
Heading North the weekend kicks off at The Arches in Glasgow, as they play host to the Pressure closing party with a stellar line up as labels M-nus and Dystopian go head to head. Leading the main arches will be the driving force behind M-nus, and Plus 8, Richie Hawtin joined by a live performance from Marc Houle and ENTER. regular Fabio Florido.
The front arches will be taken over by Dystopian as Rodhad brings his deep and powerful sound followed by 23 year old Alex.Do and and the legendary Glaswegian duo Slam. See in Spring with this end of season of party not to be messed with.
If the fact that you don’t have Monday off wasn’t enough of a reason to celebrate then fear not because this Saturday sees part two of Egg London’s 12th birthday and they are certainly celebrating in style with legendary Green Velvet taking over the terrace, Dimitri from Paris kicking off in the main room and a very special guest joining them on the night.
Sticking to this bank holiday’s unofficial theme of never ending parties Egg will be opening it’s doors for twelve hours – after a previous twelve hours for part one! With a Chinese Zodiac themed production, all star line up and Chinese food to keep you going this really is not an event to miss.
If you’re not lucky enough to make it to Glasgow Richie Hawtin is also playing just across the Irish Sea at Shine in Belfast bringing with him Fabio Florido. Hawtin’s last performance at Shine was back in 2005 adding to their 2015 “20 years of shine” programme.
Playing room 2 will be Belfast’s own pioneer of techno Phil Kieran as he takes over the Bunatee for an extended all night set. And in room 3 Miniminds return to Shine with support from James Kirkpatrick.

Anyone who’s ever been to Bristol know that the people there don’t do parties by halves and the Brystal Maze bunch go above and beyond with their interactive, immersive events. This Crystal Maze inspired day event is made up of groups of ten or more brave souls donning their best fancy dress – this events theme, animal sports day – and are lead by their team leaders around the city to compete in challenges and win Brystals.
Once the day is done all the Lions, Unicorns, Frogs and all the other animals will be coming together to party into the early hours with local legendz Sleazy Sessions, Hannah Mulvany, ELA303 and more; keeping the party going and the vibez alive. Tickets are no longer on sale but be sure to keep an eye out if you are around Bristol for plenty of animal antics.
One other celebration happening this weekend is Boys Noize Records 10th Anniversary, celebrating with a huge blow out at Heaven with DJs across three rooms. Helping them party in style on the night will be Xavier De Rosnay from Justice, Tiga (who’ll be going back to back with label head Boys Noize) and Busy P to name a few.
Having played in London for the first time back in 2005, the city holds a place close to Boys Noize and with tickets down to the last tier, we’d advise you get yours now so you don’t miss out on a seeing in a decade of Boys Noize Records.
The best thing about a holiday is that feeling of partying late into a Sunday night without the dread of work on Monday morning, too many times have and afternoon tipple rolled into 6am freak out. But this weekend it’s okay, you can go to Visionquest’s day party at Studio 338 and not worry that it continues until 7am. This is the weekend for all dayers and all nighters and this is certainly one to go out with a bang.
With Magda, Matthew Dear and more being joined by Visionquest and Spilt Milk this Detroit Affair will be a memorable closing ceremony and kick start Spring in style. As with most events this weekend tickets are now extremely limited.
We have a great competition to Win 2 x VIP tickets to Visionquest: A Detroit Affair – All Day/All Night Terrace Party (inc. free entry, free cloakroom, VIP area & 2 drinks vouchers) & 2 x Visionquest Ultraviolet Compilations mixed by DJ Three
Not happy with a twelve hour party Secretsundaze are opening at Oval Space with a 16 hour non stop bonanza, making the most of the outdoor terraces to lap up the sun and offer refuge from the carnage inside. Joining them are the captivating Fred P, New Jersey’s own Joey Anderson and local favourite Jane Fitz, amongst others.
As the evening rolls in the party will be relocating round the corner to The Laundry as the mood darkens and delves into deeper techno sounds with STERAC, Pev and Kowtown and Linkwood.
The past weeks of sunshine have got us whipping out our ‘beach bods’ slightly prematurely, gearing ourselves up for a summer of fun and sun with the obligatory trip to Ibiza squeezed in there. Magna Carta are here to provide the great Ibiza send off at O2 Academy Brixton with yet another marathon party.
With big names like Matthias Tanzmann, Kevin Saunderson, Richy Ahmed and more this will be a send off like no other. Followed by an after party which rolls into midday Monday, only attendable to ticket holders.
If you’re looking for something a little bit different to finish off your weekend then The Crown Courts in Bristol have got something to wet your appetite coming from the man of funk and soul himself. In this dark and intimate venue, fully equipped with underground cells and witness box, BBC 6 Music’s own Craig Charles will stand trial alongside five-piece Bristol band Dirty Luck performing live funk and soul joined by The Allergies, Rockit ScienceSir Funk.
Data Transmission & Packed Lunch Present: 2015 Exit Festival Tour
After an amazing start to 2015 and straight off the back of our Djebali event at the weekend with Packed Lunch in Milton Keynes, we’re back once again for the second year running collaborating with EXIT Festival as part of their 2015 tour. Last year we brought you the sell out Shadow Child event and this year on Sunday 3rd May we are bringing to Milton Keynes one of the underground house scenes biggest double acts in the form of Catz N Dogz.
The hugely successful and world renowned Polish duo Greg and Voitek more commonly known as Catz n Dogz are regularly found playing in Berlin and Szczecin as well as tech-house and techno at festivals and big clubs all over the world. Supporting Catz n Dogz in the night will be Manchester’ based & Packed Lunch favourite & hugely successful Abode resident at London & Ibiza Jimmy Switch. We also have London’s finest up and coming new talent Ac resident Brad Francis making his Packed Lunch debut. Also gracing the decks for their Packed Lunch debut we have Goodkat & Gosha who hsve impressed the Packed Lunch team with some amazing sets from their Northampton base. Also we had to bring back Attik’s Jake Hilley & Joe Andrews after their amazing set at our last event. Add to that our residents and this party is going to boot off from start to finish!
We spoke to Packed Lunch and they said this about the event “We at Packed Lunch can’t contain our excitement for bringing one of the biggest acts in the world to such an intimate venue in Milton Keynes thanks to the help from Data Transmission & Europe’s biggest festival EXIT”
