Colludo Records is the latest in a long line of labels to be born in Switzerland. Surely hoping to follow in the footsteps of greats like Hive Audio, Tamed Music and of course the mighty Cadenza. This time, the label enlists Markus Homm & Leo Leal to turn in two tracks of deep house complete with remix from Martin Patino.
First up is the title track Space Cowboy, a nicely loose limbed and elastic bit of deep house that happily pays no heed to the 90s zeitgeist. Instead it’s a simple but effective groove with sandy shakers, cute chords and plenty of soulful pad action. The Patino remix is much more techy and amped up. The synths are busier, darting about like fireflies and some muffled vocal samples add an extra party edge. Final offering Spy is another deep and cerebral house cut with a touch of the sci-fi ambiances about it. The synths are nice and puddle-like, daubed over the grainy kick clap combo and heating it through nicely. This fine EP suggest the label will be one to watch from now on.
