Marco Cassanelli – Adub EP

If you like dub techno, then this new EP from Italian Marco Cassanelli on eMBI MUsic is the sort of thing you’ll fawn over. As well as originals from him, there are remixes from fellow dub king Fluxion and Daniele Casa. The four track pack overall, then, is a classy affair.

Cassanelli opens the account with the fittingly entitled ‘ADUB’, which is a warm, autumnal affair with rippling chords washing over it, pricks of little synth detail and slick percussion that draws you right in. Next up, ‘Cushion’ is a much more minimal, intricate house affair. The percussion is like finger clicks, the bass growls and heady hooks weave their way into your brain. Flip the record over and you’ll get the hotter than hot Fluxion remix of ‘ADUB’. It’s more purposeful than the original, with a more techno leaning groove fleshed out with excellently efficient details. Lastly, Daniele Casa turns in a trippy remix of ‘Panorama’ that is haunted and haunting and wallows in the deepest of house places. This one, from start to finish, is only for the heads.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
