Dimension – Command

Command-Artwork-FINAL-300x300.jpgLabel: CYN MusicScore: 7.5/10

One of the new leading lights of D&B production, Dimension drops what is probably, for me, his best collection of tunes to date.

Sonically, there is more than a subtle nod to Culture Shock on show here. Command brings heavy doses of future funk, a pitched up vocal looping amongst the chords and warped bass hits.  It’s dance floor ready ammo that exhibits the sound of a producer getting better with every release. Pathogen darkens up the dance slightly. A bleeping lead melody and robot sound FX pinned together with a driving sub bass undertone and is most certainly the pick of the two tunes. A difficult choice considering the quality of pieces of music on offer here. Don’t forget to check the digital only Crowd Reaction, a guttural stepper.

Most certainly a step in the right direction for young Dimension, Command and Pathogen should help propel him further into the minds of D&B heads in the same way Synth City did.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
