Fresh off the release of his latest single, “Don’t Feel Pain,” Dante Tom is back on Random Soul Recordings. Marking his third outing with the Australian imprint, the new release even comes backed with a heavy disco boogie remix from label heads Random Soul.
RSR has been an absolute cornerstone for Dante in the underground house scene, starting with his debut Down Together EP which saw widespread industry support, including Traxsource charting, and the follow-up “Running Deep,” which picked up heavy backing from Toolroom Radio and Michael Gray.
With the label’s bulletproof reputation for dropping authentic, soulful house cuts that do proper damage on the dancefloor, we got Dante to dig into the RSR back catalogue and pick out his five all-time favourite tracks from their vault.
Here are Dante’s Top 5:
1. Dutchican Soul & Stereosoulz – The Way (Extended)
I remember this dropping like it was yesterday. My go to tune in my gigs back in the day. Dutchican Soul debuted on the label with this and absolutely nailed it alongside the Philly duo Stereosoulz. It perfectly splices a massive diva vocal over a throbbing, deep house groove. It’s the ultimate weapon for those late-night, sexy club sets.
2. Random Soul – Music Inside (Garage Extended Mix)
You can’t talk about Random Soul without mentioning their ear for a groove, and the garage mix of ‘Music Inside’ is prime evidence. It’s got that skippy beat that physically forces you to move, but it’s the vocal hook from Yogi that really steals the show. You can’t help but sing along every time it drops—it’s just pure, feel-good dancefloor energy.
3. Stereosoulz & IDA fLO – The Sun (Random Soul Extended Mix)
This is just an essential summer piano house record. Stereosoulz had that massive Traxsource #1 with ‘The Way,’ and teaming up with IDA fLO here was a masterstroke. The original has these lush chords, but the Random Soul Extended Mix is the one for me. They completely flipped it, injecting a chunky, driving bassline and a broken-beat breakdown that gives a massive nod to their love of early funk and hip-hop.
4. Withus – Over Me (Random Soul Remix)
Withus brought the heat on the original with their chunky drums and hypnotic chord stabs, but the Random Soul rework takes it to another level entirely. They funked it up while keeping that deep, emotive vibe intact. The combination of that bendy sine-wave synth, classic organ stabs, and vintage house drums just works perfectly. A timeless rework that always goes off.
5. Random Soul – Everyday (Jean Tonique Extended Mix)
Jean Tonique is a master of that French touch sound, and he brought so much musicality to this remix. It’s dripping with late-70s nostalgia—funk guitars, synth leads, disco-infused drums, and a bassline that just rolls. It’s exactly the kind of track you need to brighten up a set or lift your mood on a dreary day.
