Christian Lamper – Break Away

Christian Lamper is the latest man to step up to the Sub_Urban plate, just as Lomez did before him. The Spanish label has really hit its stride of late, and Lamper is duly on hand to continue this purple patch. And he does so with some panache and style for that matter too.

First up on the EP is the title track, ”Break Away”, a sumptuous and sprightly tonic of heavyweight house fare. Stuffed full of nimble hues and other sinewed creviced, it’s a delightful little gem that’ll tug at the emotions of even the ardent house fan. Really introspective and glorious stuff, this one’s sure to ignite any ailing dancefloor.

Guri & Gaol’s remix is my pick of the bunch though. They add a cosmic sheen to the original that gives it an extra dimension and allows the vocals to breathe and envelop a touch more. Dexterous and beguiling, it’s a wonderful compliment to the merits of the originals. Sebas Ramis & Campaner bring a dose of suspense with them on their remix, even if it’s not a million miles away in structure from the original. Lastly, ”Surroundings” leaves us yearning for more with a delicate flourish of bells and forceful, melodic loops. Grade A house from a label who we’ve come to expect exactly that from.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
