Champagne Spray Party, Ocean Beach

As the famous doors of the prestigious Ocean Beach Ibiza opened at lunchtime, it was time for one of the most glamorous and highly anticipated events of the summer to take place. Having seen such success over the years with this unique event, even as recently as the opening party back in May – holiday makers have been eager at the click of their mice this year booking tickets and beds in advance so they can avoid on missing out at this limited gem of an occasion.

Glancing around the glittering venue, the sun loungers were jam packed with young, glamorous revellers and several bottles of champagne just waiting to be popped open. Girls were in their best bodysuits glammed up to the absolute maximum whilst young men rolled around in shorts shorter than skirts’ girls would wear on your average night out in San Antonio.

Ocean Beach resident, Tom Crane, kicked off the party in sensational style with some deep house drops getting the early arrivals off their sun loungers and onto the dance floor strutting their stuff. Voted best DJ in 2008 and 2011 at the London Club and Bar Awards, Crane delivered the ideal performance for holiday makers and Ocean Beach lovers alike providing the best in deep house and tech as well as spinning more soulful tracks and funky house classics.

By the time 4 o’clock rolled around, it was time for the niche selling point of the party. With revellers racing to the bar to collect their free champagne, pink or white depending on your preference, the entire venue exploded with bubbly. It almost reminded me of when I was a young boy growing up watching the end to my favourite Formula One race as the top three drivers soaked each other with champagne during the podium celebrations – just with a lot less clothes on and deep house music as opposed to the winner’s national anthem, just as much fun however.

As day turned to night, the sun loungers began to empty and the pool began to fill up. The luxurious 1960’s tradition that originally started in France and has expanded throughout the globe to the likes of Cannes, Monaco, Vegas, Marbella and of course, Ibiza then truly progressed in party capital style. From a visual stand point, the aesthetics of Ocean Beach were second to none in San Antonio. The production was near perfect with dancers moving to a constant and beautiful rhythm, the lighting on the dance floor providing a wonderful visual display and of course, the aesthetics would be nothing without Ocean Beach loyalists raving to the beats provided by Tom Crane further increasing an already delicious atmosphere.

Having attended my first champagne spray party, it lived up to my very high expectations of the event. The incredible atmosphere blended in with a glorious pool, a sense of class and endless supplies of pink and white champagne bottles. Who said it doesn’t rain champagne showers in Ibiza?
