Blaqwell & CT Burners – Awake My Love

AwakeMyLove_CERECS010.jpgLabel: CerecsScore: 8/10

The Cerecs label deals in club ready and floor filling sounds and here get a bran new single from Blaqwell & Ct Burners, a duo that have released on plenty of top modern labels and who are at the very forefront of tech house. Their one original comes with a remix by label boss Todd G and Steve Mestre, and is a fine example of an EP that merges modern day and classical tropes.

The original single is an abstract, metallic affair with finger click percussion, sweeping synths and plenty of groovy dynamism in the rolling drums. It’s prickly and effervescent and gets two great re-rubs from two cannily chosen acts. The first is a trippy late night affair with filtered vocals, echoing FX and widescreen synths whilst the second is a deeper, more stripped back affair with crisp hi hats, bobbling bass and infectious grooves a plenty. Another fine package to add to the Cerecs story.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
