337 – H.O.S.H

As the summer sadly begins to draw to a close we thought we’d maintain our happy sunshine vibes and keep the party going a little while longer by bringing in one of the house scenes new school heavyweights H.O.S.H to deliver this weeks exclusive podcast. One of the fundamental parts of Solomun’s brotherhood of electronic music, Diynamic H.O.SH, real name Holger Behn has long been considered one of the industry’s innovators both as a DJ and a producer.

A DJ since he was a teenager Holger prized ability to spin records into one coherent, seamless journey has been winning him fans across the globe and it was via his love of mixing that he decided to start producing records of his own. The usual biographical tales of teenage years being spent having music lessons do not apply here: H.O.S.H. got into production simply because he wanted to know how the records he was playing week in, week out were put together. Once he mastered that, there was no looking back…. Says H.O.S.H. “When it comes to producing, making music for me is like cooking – the meal / track gets better the more love you put in. “

An integral part of the Diynamic imprint since 2006 alongside label and sometimes flat mates Solomun and Stimming H.O.S.H has undoubtedly helped steer house music into unchartered waters. With a subtle deftness to his productions and an engaging track selection that have lit up his residencies at some of the globes hottest nightspots such as Watergate in Berlin, Studio 80 in Amsterdam or Ego in Hamburg it appears that H.O.S.H is a name that’s here to stay.

With his section of Diynamic’s innovative Forever Young project (4 Releases that will eventually bring together 8 tracks on a limited pressing of 500 10″ Vinyls. Now if we can just tempt him to cook for us too…Sum up this podcast in 10 words…First hour of my live set at strafwerk festival yesterdayWhat’s your personal favourite track on it?Hard to say since it involves such great classics also. i played bit more techy at this hour as it fitted the festival. What’s the special ingredient in this mix?i dropped in the monstrous organ break of stimmings and mine radar on the geffen track. this was very spontaneous and you could say this is also the special ingredient maybe.What’s the best gig you’ve played recently? For sure it is a gig at our neon night at sankeys. probably the opening gig. everything fell into place!What have you got coming up? I am working on a project named Forever Young at the moment. It consists of 4 10” Vinyl plus digital Releases coming along with special Videos and an artwork thats connected as a puzzle. Forever Young is all about childdreams and to keep on dreaming and then finally to live those dreams. Each of the 8 tracks represents a character of a childdream. I wanted to relate my next album size project to one theme and also wanted to do something different and try to think things further.  Besides this project i have several Remixes in the pipeline. Next up is one for Riva Starr.
