328 – Tom Staar

Like a flare into the heart of the global dance music stadium, Tom’s recent remix of African Drop grabbed the attention of every A-List DJ on the scene, gaining heavy support from Swedish House Mafia, Afrojack and A Trak to name a few, and resulting in a flurry of remix requests from each respective camp. Promptly obliging, the resulting remixes gained Radio 1 support in the UK from Pete Tong and Annie Mac, and had Axwell, Angello, Ingrosso and Afrojack all reporting full-scale pandemonium at clubs around the globe. Then came the knock-out punch, as Mau5trap released Tom’s earth-shattering Home, instantly solidifying what everyone was already thinking – Tom Staar had arrived!

Cast your eyes online and forums, blogs, YouTube and SoundCloud are buzzing as worldwide ravers desperately devour Tom’s fresh new sounds. Already pocketing 3 Beatport Top 10’s (SHM remix and orignal track Cheyenne) and nearing a million collective YouTube hits – Tom Staar’s sonic wizardry is connecting on every level.

The production guru behind countless killer records, Tom Staar has refined his skills through a breathtaking number of studio sessions over the past 10 years.  From main-room house for Mark Knight and Kryder, to the underground sounds of Hot Since 82 and Moda Records, Tom’s exceptional production ability has positioned him as one of the UK’s most formidable new-skool talents… and thing’s are only just getting started…

From the green fields of Brazil’s Kabalah Festival, via the eye-popping stage of Ibiza’s Ushuaia, to the warehouse spaces of his very own Moda parties. Tom’s powerful and captivating DJ sets have billed him alongside a diverse range of global talents, such as Fatboy Slim, Deadmau5, Erol Alkan and Annie Mac.

With forthcoming releases on Mixmash and Ultra, a humongous collaboration with Wolfgang Gartner and talks of an album already taking place, you don’t need a degree in astronomy to know this Staar is about to explode!

So with such a trail blazed over the last few years we grabbed a few words and more importantly a fresh mix from Tom Starr ahead of a packed summer schedule including the London leg of the Electric Daisy Carnival and a headline slot for Ibiza’s Le Grand Bazaar ay Ushuaia Tower. Warning: this set may contain sunshine…
